According to the unified deployment of the provincial Covid-19 Prevention and Control Headquarters, 12 faculty members with medical background and laboratory working experience responded to the call actively and joined the nucleic acid sampling and testing teams to fight against the COVID-19 in Soochow.
After being notified on April 15th, the nucleic acid testing team, including Dong Hang, Simin Zhang, Songyu Cao and Jing Zheng, packed their luggage, arranged teaching and research work properly and departed for Soochow immediately. They arrived the destination after 6-hours-long journey and attended the sampling training on-site that night. The next day, according to the district arrangement, they participated in nucleic acid sampling, and each one finished 500 to 600 samples per day.
On April 17th, the nucleic acid testing team, including Zhan Zhang, Wei Wu, Jieshu Wu, Hong Qi, Guowei Zhong, Shuwei Li, Qiaoqiao Xu and Jun Zhu, departed for Soochow immediately after a short departure ceremony in the school. After the local training, the team leaders of each group arrived at the fangcang laboratory, got familiar with the environment and trained the trainee with protective suit and disposal of medical waste. Next morning, each team conducted internal training and assessment again, and began to perform nucleic acid testing in the afternoon.
In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the faculty of the School of Public Health responded promptly when called upon, and overcame various difficulties to help Soochow, which demonstrating their determination and cohesion in fighting the COVID-19 with the professional skills and dedication.
