Key Laboratory of Modern Toxicology of Ministry of Education

In August 2005, the Jiangsu provincial government and the Ministry of Education approved Nanjing Medical University to establish the Key Laboratory of modern toxicology jointly built by Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Education. On the basis of the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Applied Toxicology (1996) and the Jiangsu Center for Safety Evaluation and Research of Pharmaceutical Pesticides and Veterinary Drugs (2001), after nearly three years of construction, in February 2008, the Ministry of Education officially approved the opening of the Key Laboratory of Modern Toxicology of Ministry of Education (Nanjing Medical University) (JJH [2008] No. 13 of the Ministry of Education) (hereinafter referred to as the Key Laboratory). In the 2016 key laboratory evaluation, it passed the evaluation of the Ministry of education and was rated as Good.
The key laboratory currently has 52 fixed personnel and 27 mobile personnel, totaling 79. Among the floating personnel, there were 16 post doctors and 15 visiting scholars. Among the fixed personnel, there are 20 professors, 16 associate professors, 9 lecturers, 46 experimental technicians and 3 management personnel; 39 people have studied in the United States, Britain, Canada, Sweden, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries or regions. It has 1 national famous teaching teacher, 1 special post scholar of the Yangtze River scholars award program, 3 distinguished professors, 2 young scholars, 2 national level candidates for the new century hundred and ten thousand talents project, 1 candidate for the national major talent project youth project, 2 winners of the National Science Fund for outstanding young people, 4 winners of the National Science Fund for outstanding young people, 6 academic backbones of the innovation team of the Ministry of education, and many outstanding talents in Jiangsu Province. Three people have been selected into the list of highly cited scholars in China for three consecutive years (released by Elsevier). In addition, he has served as one honorary chairman and one vice chairman of the Chinese Toxicology Society, more than 30 members of the professional committee, one chairman, one vice chairman and 12 directors of the Jiangsu Toxicology Society, and 16 chairmen and vice chairmen of the professional committee. In 2020, the laboratory added a number of major research topics and a number of high-level research papers; The ESI ranking of pharmacology and toxicology has advanced 37 places compared with 2019, reaching the top 122 (top 1.26 ‰); Remarkable achievements have been made in the transformation and application of toxicology achievements.
The key laboratory has always adhered to the principle of combining basic research with applied research. In order to comply with the latest trend of toxicology development at home and abroad and the development needs of China's economy and society, it has carried out its work from the following four research directions: environment and human reproductive health, environment and tumor, new mechanisms and methods of toxicology and safety assessment and risk assessment.
