Master of Public Health (MPH) Program
● The MPH Program is intended to cultivate health professionals for the practice of global health especially in developing countries, serve and improve health in developing countries, especially those along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road (the Belt and Road).
● This MPH program focuses on hot issues in the public health field in a global background. The challenges of global health, including infectious and chronic diseases, environmental pollution, climate change, which also influence the political and economic situation, have been more and more severe in developing countries. This program emphasizes the development of analytical and methodological skills to effectively engage in and critically evaluate health policies; prevent and control infectious diseases such as SARS, Ebola, HIV, tuberculosis, influenza; improve conditions of the patients with chronic diseases through health education and health intervention; protect air and water quality in the industrial process in developing countries and promote universal health.
● The goal of this program is to build skills in strategic planning and public health policy making locally and globally, public health networking construction, distribution of public service sources and emergency management. The courses cover Chinese, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environment & Health, Infectious Disease and Health Economics, etc.. Typical public health case practice is also needed. This is a one and a half year full-time program in which students should finish all the lessons and academic research works required. Qualified students will obtain MPH degree of Nanjing Medical University.
● After one and a half year’s training, qualified students with good Chinese communication ability could work in health administration, international health and medical organizations, rescue agencies, non-governmental organizations, research and academic institutions where they can improve and promote t collaboration and communication between China and other developing countries in the health field.
